Vitamin D: Why Vietnamese People Are Deficient and How to Supplement Correctly

Despite Vietnam being a tropical country with abundant sunshine, research shows that over 60% of Vietnamese people are vitamin D deficient. The main causes are indoor lifestyles, sunscreen use, and diets lacking vitamin D-rich foods.

To supplement vitamin D effectively, sunbathe for 15-20 minutes each morning before 9 AM, eat fatty fish like salmon and mackerel, and drink vitamin D-fortified milk. For severe deficiency, doctors may prescribe 1000-2000 IU per day.
